Lose twenty pounds in 2 weeks? Is it possible? Piece of cake! And no, there will not be cake involved, but I do think its feasible by manipulating metabolism properly. I started this project yesterday for both my benefit as well as for the general experience of training and discipline. As many of you reading this may or may not know, I am studying sports science in hopes of finding a career that I can put some of this practical knowledge to use someday.
Objective: No Fad Diets, No cleanses, No purging, To put it simply, to lose 20lbs in two weeks through diet, discipline, supplementation, and manipulation of metabolism, while continuing my current workout regime. Note, I will not be increasing workout loads, but merely altering consumption amounts and schedules to 'kick start' metabolism and burn calories.
Implementations: Replace bad carbs with low gylcemic carbohydrates, Increase hydration levels by consuming more water, no consumption of alcoholic beverages as these are counter productive in any diet or program. Continue to work out 4-5 days a week, include supplementation of CLA, L-glutamine (recovery), D-ribose (pre), colostrum, calcium, vitamin D and Fish Oil.
DAY 1 RECAP
Initial weight 252
Percent bodyfat 38
Hydration percent 47.5
Day one adjustment day is always difficult, the 'shrinking' of the stomach so to speak does lend to experience some hunger pains, but eating every 2.5 hours does mean there is always another meal right around the corner which helps. Ultimately, day one was not as successful as I had hoped as I was unable to eat every 2.5 hours due to scheduling conflicts, and because of this I only consumed 4 meals rather than the 5 I had hoped for. Also, I ended the day in a caloric deficit having only consumed about 2100 calories with my Basal Metabolic Rate (the rate you consume calories if your body remained dormant all day) alone being about 2200 in a day. Not a good start, all this eating is going to be harder than I thought!
DAY TWO RECAP
Despite under eating yesterday, as well as under hydrating in my humble opinion, I did have some day one success!
New weight 249 -3lbs
Percent bodyfat 39
Hydration percent 46.5
Obviously, the first thing that stands out is the loss of 3 pounds after one day, which is what we want, however, if you look deeper, you do notice a one percent increase of body fat, as well as a percentage drop in hydration. This lends us to believe the three pounds is most likely water weight, and nothing to get too excited about just yet.
Goals for today is to consume roughly 2300 calories while eating 5 mini meals. So far, so good, check back for more updates!
